Top 2 Recommended ASEAN Destinations for January

With the reopening of travel routes, Korean sightseers are quickly heading back to ASEAN. Which destinations are the best in January? One of the ways to maximize the satisfaction of your trip is to determine your destination based on the weather in each country. Here are two recommendations for January.

Chiang Mai, Thailand
Thailand is one of ASEAN’s best travel destinations in January. The country’s dry season lasts until February, with the thermometer hovering around20–30°C. In particular, Chiang Mai, a major tourist destination in northern Thailand, maintains atemperature of 14–29°C in January. It is perfect for outdoor activities and popular with travelers from all over the world.
Chiang Mai is a long established wellness hotspot, known for excellent yoga studios and a host of spas and massage facilities. It is also one of the most treasured vegan destinations in the world, great for anyone looking to experience vegetarianism. If you are planning a trip to ASEAN for healing and detox over the New Year, Chiang Mai is the right answer.
Among other things, the city is a magnet for digital nomads from around the world, with plenty of affordable accommodations and co-working spaces. If you’re considering a workation—an up-and-coming travel trend for 2023 that combines work and travel—this is a highly recommended location.

Boracay, Philippines
The Philippines is hot all year round andprone to typhoons in the summer, but October to May is the dry season. January is especially pleasant with low humidity. Which means that right now is the perfect time to enjoy the gorgeous and pristine island of Boracay.
It was closed for six months in 2018 to restore its environment, but had to shut down again due to the pandemic after only a year of opening to tourists. What is it like right now? Recent accounts from visitors to Boracay often say that they have never seen the island so clean and isolated. The price is also highly competitive. For the cost of a five-star hotel in Korea, you can stay in a private villa with an ocean-view terrace.
This is not to mention all of the activities you can enjoy on the clean beaches, and the fun of browsing the interesting shops and restaurants along the shoreline. Before more travelers flock here, I recommend checking out the pristine environment of Boracay.
