Light of ASEAN, One Community and Harmony, an exhibition to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Korea-ASEAN dialogue relationship, will be held at the ACH, featuring a renewed concept. The exhibition is the first cooperative project between the ACH and the Asia Culture Institute (ACI) since the two parties entered into an MOU for the establishment of comprehensive mutual cooperation.
At the Lai Hua Fai festival in Laos and the Loi Krathong festival in Thailand, people lift up their hopes in prayer through light-related ceremonies. These include flying sky lanterns and floating candles in baskets along the river. Myanmar has a custom of decorating trees with multicolored lamps to convey the significance of lighting up the path to be traveled by Buddha during the Buddhist festival of Thadingyut. The Mid-Autumn festival in Malaysia and Singapore, Tet Trung Thu in Vietnam, and Choul Chnam Thmey in Cambodia, which are similar to Chuseok (the Korean thanksgiving festival), are also characterized by lights, with beautiful, lotus-shaped lanterns lining the streets.
Through the exhibition, Breeze Fire and Mysterious Fire, two kinetic media artworks produced by the media artist group Silo Lab, will be introduced to the public. Breeze Fire features a reenactment of the sky lanterns of ASEAN, soaring into the heavens while projecting light on a river. Mysterious Fire, produced with approximately 270 incandescent light bulbs, draws patterns that symbolize ASEAN as its lights gradually turn on and off. This light, which chases away the darkness and clearly reveals the shape of all things in the world, symbolizes the hopes and dreams of mankind throughout history. We invite you to experience a longing for the harmony and peace of Korea and ASEAN while enjoying the views of floating sky lanterns and the choreography of the flickering incandescent lights.

The ASEAN Culture House (ACH) has been temporarily closed in order to prevent possible spread and transmission of COVID-19 among visitors. An upcoming schedule of the ACH's reopening will be posted to the ACH website ( www.ach.or.kr ).
