White Chicks

White Chicks, a comedy movie released in 2004, was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and stars Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, among others. FBI agents Kevin and Marcus are on the verge of dismissal after making mistake after mistake. They go undercover as the Wilson sisters to safely escort the daughters of the Wilson Cruiseliners CEO to a weekend-long fashion event in the Hamptons. In the course of achieving their mission, they make new friends, gain new-found empathy that transcends gender-based differences, and start to understand their spouses.

This light-hearted movie, rich in fun and laughs, invites viewers to confront their prejudices—racial, gender, and others—while providing solutions for removing them in warm and cheery ways. Ultimately, it demonstrates that people can become good friends by overcoming such differences.

Vanessa Carlton’s song, “A Thousand Miles,” sets the tone and is played often throughout the movie. The song is so addictive that viewers keep singing it even after finishing the movie, only to go back and watch it again. If you are bored with your everyday routine and in need of some cheerful healing time, then this cult classic is for you.
